Additionally, we highly recommend ordering NuVet Plus K9 Wafers to help your puppy continue in great health!

A few things to bring along for the puppy's ride home:

It is good to come prepared as puppies can get a little car sick or will drool a bit as they travel for the first time.

  • Crate or Box
  • Short Leash
  • Bath Towel or Pad
  • Paper Towels

Our puppies usually come with the following items:

Bringing your new puppy home:

Preparing Your Home: Before bringing your new puppy home, ensure you have a puppy-proofed area set up with his bed, food, water, and toys. Remove any hazards or items that he could chew on or ingest.

First Introduction: When you first bring your puppy home, take him to the designated potty area outside. Use a consistent command for potty breaks, such as "go potty," and reward him when he goes in the right spot.

Exploring His New Home: Allow your puppy to explore his new surroundings gradually. Start with a small, puppy-proofed area and gradually introduce him to other rooms in the house.

Meeting the Family: Introduce your puppy to family members one at a time, in a calm and quiet environment. This helps him feel more comfortable and less overwhelmed.

Establishing a Routine: Set a schedule for feeding, potty breaks, playtime, and naptime. Consistency is key to helping your puppy adjust to his new home.

Crate Training: Introduce your puppy to his crate as a safe and comfortable space. Use positive reinforcement, such as treats and praise, to encourage him to enter the crate.

Supervision and Socialization: Supervise your puppy at all times, especially during the early days. Socialize him with other dogs and people to help him become a well-adjusted adult dog.

Basic Training: Start basic training early, including commands like sit, stay, and come. Use positive reinforcement to reward good behavior.

Health and Safety: Schedule a vet visit for a health check-up and vaccinations. Keep your puppy safe by removing any toxic plants or substances from your home.

Building a Bond: Spend quality time with your puppy, playing, training, and cuddling. This helps build a strong bond between you and your new furry friend.

Patience and Love: Above all, be patient and show your puppy love and affection. He is adjusting to a new environment and needs time to feel comfortable and secure.

Bringing a new puppy home is an exciting time, and with the right preparation and care, you can ensure a smooth transition for your new furry family member.

He has the same parents are our first dog. Very similar personalities, but still different. Both dogs are very smart… ... read more

We have been blessed enough to add another puppy to our lives. When purchasing Akeno it was easily done, upon arriving they treated us so pleasantly and welcoming. They gave us all the necessary paperwork, went over everything with us and even gave him a leash and a blanket. The dog was well… ... read more
